Welcome to the Blog

Firstly, welcome to the Fast Track BLOG. Lots of students have asked me how they should use this site, and so here are some examples of what you could do"
  1. Post some of your own creative writing. It can be a poem, a story, a playscript, a magazine article - anything you have written yourself. Publishing it on the BLOG will give it an immediate audience, and you never know - some people might post some useful comments in response.
  2. Post a response to a practice exam question. Whether it is for the KS3 SATs or GCSE English, publishing one of your attempts at a practice question makes it possible for loads of your peers both to learn from what you have written, and to assess your work themselves. There something in it for everyone.
  3. Post what is, effectively, a diary entry - on a topic we have studied in class. For instance, if we have been looking at a particular story or poem, you might want to publish a piece of writing which puts across your opinions about that text, why you like/dislike it, and what you think it means. Again, you can learn a lot from others' comments.
  4. Post book reviews of novels you have read recently and particularly enjoyed. Other students can then read your views and, if they've read the book too, discuss it with you; and, if they haven't, they can then go away and read it themselves.
These are just some of the ways you might use this BLOG. Just remember, unlike the Message Board, this is not for brief, hurried messages. The work published here should have been thought about and redrafted carefully, and should, therefore, be a 'showcase' of the 'Best of' the Fast Track. Then, when people 'comment' on your posts, they can chat about them to their heart's content.

If anyone has any further questions about how to use this BLOG, either email me OR come and see me at school OR give it a try anyway. I will edit or delete anything I do not think is suitable, so you will soon find out if you are on the wrong tracks.

Happy blogging!

Mr Savage

Right so you can post ANYTHING that you have created yourself? (i am asking because i made this nice poem about postman pat but wasnt sure if it would be usefull.

And are you allowed to post something that IS usefull but not what you have created?

OH, and is everything (posts and all) just going to be on this ONE page??? If yes wouldnt it be a bit mashed and crowded and stuff?

I'm still getting my head around the difference between a MESSAGE BOARD and a BLOG. Not sure if I can create different 'pages' within one blog, so yes - I kind of was assuming this would just grow as one, long diary. Any better ideas?
